I'm wasted, losing time

I'm a foolish, fragile spine

I want all that is not mine
I want him but we're not right

In the darkness I will meet my creators

And they will all agree, that I'm a suffocator

I should go now quietly

For my bones have found a place
To lie down and sleep
Where all my layers can become reeds
All my limbs can become trees
All my children can become me
What a mess I leave
To follow

In the darkness I will meet my creators

They will all agree, I'm a suffocator

Suffocator

Oh no
I'm sorry if I smothered you
I sometimes wish I'd stayed inside
My mother
Never to come out

Ausência | Absence

It has been exactly one month since I last wrote here, and for that I am sorry. As the year and school semester went by, a lot of work required my attention. And especially because it is my last year in University I've been trying to give it my full attention. But of course as soon as there is more free time, I will be back with a few more posts.

(Also, I often forget to take my phone with me when I go outside, so excuse the lack of exterior photography!)

Autumn has arrived, and the days have been filled with work for classes, visits to grandma, letters and small doodles.

Newly acquired typewriter: a Hermes Baby from the 1960's

Lisboa, Lisboa

After 5, almost 6, years of living in Portugal, I finally had the oportunity to visit the capital of the country, Lisbon. Because of the bad weather, I only managed to walk around for one afternoon, but it was enough for making me want to go back in a near future.

Dias de correio | Good mail days

This post was meant to be made already some time ago, but as soon classes start again I find myself short on time. I've been receiving some fantastic things in the mail which I really wanted to share with everyone, so here are a few pictures:

Hand-drawn and lovingly packed, "curious mail" by Corey; still can't get over the fact of how talented she is

Vintage paper ephemera from Trina

Mail from the amazing Jessica Xu (make sure to check out her blog to see more of her amazing illustrations!)

A tiny letter (with a tiny postcard) from Onessa

And lastly, mail from Margaret who always spoils me with tons of paper ephemera and photographs.

With all the love,
Andreia

Cartas ao longo do ano | Letters over the year

Translation:

Today finally I decided to delete my tumblr dedicated to incoming and outgoing mail - Travelling Letters. There wasn't really a need to delete it, but I feel bad for not keeping it updated. And since I've created this blog now, it didn't seem to make much sense to maintain both (considering I also update my personal tumblr regularly, and also have Instagram). Here are a few pictures of mail I sent over the past year.

Translation:

I spent my childhood in a foreign country, and everyday I had to deal with various languages at the same time. Usually, people who experienced this kind of reality tend to develop good languages skills; in the 11 years I lived in Switzerland I learnt (swiss) german, french, italian and a bit of english, but at the same time it left me very confused in regards to certain linguistic details. I've been living in Portugal for 5 years now (and I am taking a degree in languages!) and still make extremly stupid mistakes. It is something that I'm not very proud of, but I guess it's something that awkwardly fits with my "airhead" personality.

But the whole point of this was: I'm not much of a talkative person, nor do I write a lot (which is funny because I write letters?); I much rather post pictures instead of writing long texts, so it might be possible that in the future I will post more pictures than actual texts. I hope you do not grow bored of me!

On another note, I also wanted to show a little something I made for a friend of mine. She's also crazy about tea so I thought I'd make her a tea box as a birthday present for her. I tried to give it a vintage effect, and also added images to it with a recent wood transfer method I discovered. I was hoping for a better end result, but oh well, I tried my best. What do you think?

Hoje | Today

(22.08.2013)

(Resumed) Translation:

Early in the morning the postman came over by my house and gave me 3 packages: 2 were books I ordered a while ago, and the other one was this amazing gift from Liza. We decided to do a swap through Instagram, and after having received my part of the swap, she sent me this fantastic handmade notebook as a 'thank-you'. I was so overthrown by the details that I decided to leave out the books and write about them in a future post :)
